West Valley College Offered A Free Class For Massage Therapists

The town Los Gatos had a new rule according to which each massage therapist must have 300 hours of documented massage coursework in 2007. Many of the therapists in the town didn’t have it, altought they were licensed therapists with a great experience.

The only problem is that many of the massaging courses were too expensive for the therapists, especially during todays’ economics. The only option for many therapists would have been to move away from the town.

That is the reason why West Valley College offered a free class to help massage therapists who have to adjust to new regulations. Total twenty massage therapists got the education that helped them to continue maintain their businesses. Funding for the classes was provided by the California Community College Chancellor’s Office.

Massage Therapy Helps People With Advanced Cancer

According to a new study, massage therapy may offer relief from pain and improve mood. In the study massage therapy was compared with “simple touch” therapy, in which the therapist placed both hands on the patient for three minutes at 10 specific body sites.

The results showed that people who had massage showed greater improvements in pain and mood symptoms than did people who received simple touch therapy. However, the effects seem to be short term. This is suggested by the fact that after three weeks there were no statistically significant sustained changes.
